Rio Bravo, in the Dept. of Suchitepequez, is a small town about 15 km from Tiquisate. We first started working there because

Clariza's old school mate was the newly-elected alcalde (mayor). When we first went there, a tiny library existed, although the

collection was old and inadequate, and small animals and thieves came in and out through the unfinished walls. There was also

abandoned shell of a new library building. Our offer to Don Juan, the alcalde, was that if he would finish the shell, we would buy

books for the library. The inauguration was on November 24, 2004.

The new library was such a success that there wasn't enough space for the collection and the patrons. Again, Books and Wings

worked with the municipality to build an extension to the library.
