Mission

In 1993, we adopted Antonio, who was born in Guatemala. Like many adoptive families, we wanted to give something back to

the country which gave us our son. So, we started Books and Wings Foundation of Guatemala.

Books and Wings works to change the lives of young Guatemalans

by supporting schools and libraries on Guatemala’s Costa Sur

(South Coast). The name comes from our belief that literacy and

education are the only way out of poverty for Guatemala’s young

people. Books and Wings works in communities where:

. . . illiteracy is as high as 50%

. . . 60% of students end their formal education in 6th grade

. . . only 10% begin high school

All donations go to benefit our projects in Guatemala. We pay the

foundation’s overhead and administrative expenses out of pocket, as

we do our travel costs. We would be proud to receive your support.
